Meet Francesco: Artisan Jeweler in Florence – While walking the street of Florence in search of new itineraries for my Tuscany lovers, I found this tiny shop in the heart of Florence . My passion for artisan jewelers made me stop in front of the window but my friend immediately spotted a pair of earrings that – she felt- were calling her name !

So I met Francesco and his son while busy making their jewels and happy to tell us about their work and a bit about themselves as well. Francesco’s son is learning the job while planning to become an airplane pilot, but he is already very good at jewel making.

Their creations are made using silver and gilded brass, which gives a sense of antiquity to the pieces, and semi-precious stones, such as garnet, aquamarine, freshwater pearls and coral. The design is a mix between very modern pieces made of resin and plexi and antique-looking ones inspired to Medici jewels.
I didn’t have in mind any shopping but a pair of delicate golden Florence Gigli with two tiny green aquamarine drops made me feel a bit like Caterina de Medici on holiday…so I couldn’t resist .
Francesco, born in Sardinia but Florence is now his adoptive town, made some changes on the spot just for me (as I wanted them a bit shorter ) while my friend chose a pair of golden leaves with red corals. Nice to notice that prices are affordable and one feels inspired to buy more ..or not guilty, it depends
